
The South African Post Office says it has a number of strategies and options to try and turn the struggling parastatal around. CEO Nomkhita Mona has defended the move to retrench 6000 workers, saying the entity has been left with no choice but to implement the section 189 process.
The state-owned enterprise has been on a drive to cut costs by slashing salaries by 40 percent in an effort to return to profitability, last seen in 2004.
