Government 'not looking for unanimity' at jobs summit: Chalmers

The federal government is “not looking for unanimity” at the Jobs and Skills Summit and “won’t be able to progress every idea pitched up”, Treasurer Jim Chalmers says.

“Any idea that is about getting wages growing again after a decade of deliberate wage suppression and wage stagnation belongs at the summit,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Australia.

“We welcome this idea that’s been put forward by the union movement, it’s something that’s been discussed with the business community and employer groups for a little while now. Obviously, not everyone has an identical view.”
