Most of us cannot make heads or tails of the often complicated labelling that comes with the food and drinks we buy. However studies show that the growing number of diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes which can lead to strokes and heart disease, has made understanding the labelling on our food more important than ever. A lot of the common foods on our local supermarket shelves are often high in salt, sugar and saturated fats. This year the Department of Health have published draft regulations which will mandate easy to recognise and read warning labels on these foods to help people make the best decisions for themselves and children.
