Religious leaders, community members and the police gathered at Bethelsdorp in Gqeberha to draft strategies to bring the perpetrators of crime to book. The high rate of shooting incidents in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has caused it to be dubbed ‘gangster city’. The latest quarterly crime statistics for October to December 2022, also showed an alarming level of violent crime. Residents say they live in fear of being gunned down and they’ve had enough.
