Mangaung financial decay blamed on lack of proper documentation

Opposition parties in the embattled Mangaung Metro say the financial decay of the municipality is the result of a lack of proper documentation.

This follows the 2021/2022 Auditor-General’s report which painted a grim picture of the top management and the municipality’s finances.

The report indicated a loss of R1.8 billion in unauthorised expenditure.

And that the metro’s current liabilities exceeded its total assets by R485 million.
