
While no burning tyres and boulders were blocking the streets, residents of Honeydew Ridge in Roodepoort, West of Johannesburg, vented their anger at having spent almost a week without power. Scores disrupted traffic and voiced their demands – jolted into a reality that has faced many rural and township communities across the country for years.
Besides electricity, they want City Power and local councillors to be responsive to their cries.
Authorities, however, say they are doing their best under very difficult conditions.
