International Day of Action for Women's Health: Jane Nkosi

Today marks the International Day of Action for Women’s Health. The day aims to highlight demands for the fulfillment of women’s right to health. This year, the focus is on post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery and holding governments accountable for the gendered impacts of the pandemic that remain unaddressed to date. Some of the impacts include loss of livelihood, increased unpaid care burdens on women and girls, heightened risks of gender-based violence, and barriers to accessing essential sexual and reproductive health services, including safe abortion and post-abortion care. To take this discussion further we are now joined via Zoom by Jane Nkosi. She is the Health Care Manager for Rhiza Babuyile – a non-profit organisation that renders health care services and other community development programmes in many parts of the country.
