
Pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, has announced that it will sell all its
patent-protected drugs which are authorised in the United States, or the European Union, on a not-for-profit basis to 45 lower-income countries.
The majority of these countries, with a population of 1,2 billion, are African. The deal was announced by Pfizer’s CEO at the World Economic Forum, alongside billionaire, Bill Gates, and the presidents of Malawi and Rwanda, two of the countries which will benefit.
