If you haven’t renewed your driver’s licence, well you better lean in. Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, has emphasized that there will be no further grace period for motorists who failed to renew their driver licence cards. Penalties for expired licences had been suspended since the start of the hard COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. The deadline for motorists to renew expired licences was yesterday. Mbalula has led a team of government officials in eThekwini, to monitor progress of the repair and rebuilding of roads affected by last month’s flooding, which claimed more than 430 lives.
