
The Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform in the Eastern Cape is commemorating world Veterinary Day, by vaccinating pets in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro to stop the spread of rabies in the community of Walmer township. This is where this disease claimed a life of a toddler recently.
The department has been doing awareness programs since the outbreak of the disease in the area last year. The department is commemorating this day by holding door-to-door community outreach to vaccinate cats and dogs and also visiting local schools to spread awareness about rabies.
