
The United Nations says a joint investigation is underway with the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to establish where a helicopter crashed during a reconnaissance mission in North Kivu Province, in the country’s East. Eight Peacekeepers – six of them from Pakistan and one each from Russia and Serbia died in the incident. The U.N. also confirmed that reconnaissance work continues in the area to monitor the activities of armed groups and to do whatever it can to protect civilians.
