
The Botswana government is seeking to fast-track the passage of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Bill. The media in the country say the bill will stifle freedom of the press, trade unions and civil society. If passed into law, it will enable the state to intercept communication and force the disclosure of information to state intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
