More than 30 years into South Africa’s democracy, residents of Swayimane and Mpolweni in the uMshwathi Local Municipality, in KwaZulu-Natal’s Midlands, are still without clean, running water in their homes and a proper bridge to cross the river safely. Eyewitness News spoke to residents about the ongoing lack of basic services and their concerns over service delivery in the municipality.
