South Africa has returned from the NFL Flag Africa Continental Championship in Nairobi with more than just medals. The two-day tournament showcased the country’s growing strength in flag football while highlighting the sport’s rapid rise across Africa on the road to its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
Competing against Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt, South Africa fielded men’s, women’s, and Under-13 national teams. The men’s side fought back to claim third place, while the U13 team also secured bronze. Although the women’s team finished fifth, they made history as South Africa’s first national women’s flag football team to compete on the continental stage.
