eNCA’s Ronald Masinda is reporting from the East London Regional Court in Mdantsane, where judgment is expected in the Enyobeni Tavern inquest. Twenty-one teenagers died at the tavern during a pens-down party in 2022. More than 30 witnesses testified to help the court determine who should be held criminally liable for the tragedy. The state argues that responsibility should be shared between the Eastern Cape Liquor Board, inspectors, police and the tavern’s management.
