Food inflation drops to 14-month low

The good news is that food price inflation has slowed to its lowest level in more than a year. Stats SA says food inflation eased to 2.8 percent in April, down from 3.4 percent in March. Economists attribute the decline to lower grain, fruit and vegetable prices, supported by strong local harvests. But meat prices are still high due to Foot and Mouth Disease. Analysts warn that rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East war remain a risk to future prices. #enca #dstv403
