Pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered outside Cape Union Mart, demanding the release of Mandla Mandela and other activists detained in connection with the Gaza aid flotilla. The protest also targeted the retail chain after it approached the Western Cape High Court for an interdict against the group, arguing that the demonstrations outside its store disrupted business operations and put staff and customers at risk. Protesters, however, say their actions are peaceful and part of a global solidarity movement with Palestine.
