Sewage flows amid mud homes in Makhanda

The persistent stench of raw sewage near homes has become an everyday reality for residents of Makhanda, Eastern Cape. Many live in makeshift mud dwellings, going for days without water. The sharp decline in living standards in this once-vibrant town is often blamed on chronic mismanagement by the Makana Municipality, considered one of the worst-run in the country. Some residents believe that lasting change will also require communities to unite and act to help restore their city. eNCA’s Ronald Masinda filed this report. Courtesy #DStv403
