Holiday isn’t just a time of joy. For the poorest amongst us, especially children, it’s a time of suffering and deepening hunger. Schools are closed, meaning the National School Nutrition Programme which feeds 9 million children is not operating, shutting off the one source of a regular meal for millions of children. Daily Maverick is partnering with SA Harvest, one of the biggest and best food redistribution organizations in SA on an appeal to raise funds and simultaneously distribute the foods it can buy through the Lusikisiki office of SA Harvest in the Eastern Cape.
