The focus on women in sports in South Africa this year promises to provide greater opportunities for female athletes in the country.
That’s according to talented young discus thrower, Yané van der Merwe. Van der Merwe won gold at the recent national championships for athletes with physical disabilities in Cape Town.
She set a new South African record in the event and also equalled the African record.
