
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to send an envoy to the United States to discuss SA’s diplomatic ties with Russia.
Recently, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant of arrest for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. It’s expected that Putin could attend the BRICS summit to be held in SA in August. And as a signatory of the Rome Statute, South Africa is obliged to effect Putin’s arrest.
Pretoria, however, has maintained its neutral, non-aligned stance, and refuses to cut ties with Russia.
