Nehawu strike | Labour Court's decision on the strike: Aadil Patel

The Labour Court has turned down the application of the National, Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) to appeal government’s strike interdict. This means the interdict stands to prevent union members from picketing, striking or embarking on any other form of industrial action.

Nehawu members have been on strike since last Monday and government hospitals have been severely affected in some provinces with health officials who want to work being barred or threatened.

Head of the Employment Department at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, Aadil Patel gives insight into the interdict.
