Flooding in Mpumalanga has caused more than R300 million in damage

The Mpumalanga government estimates the damage caused by disruptive rains in the province to amount to over R300 million. Heavy rains have left a trail of destruction, with infrastructure such as roads, schools, clinics, houses and a railway line affected. In the Ehlanzeni region, the Mbombela, Nkomazi, Bushbuckridge and Thaba Chweu Municipalities have been hard hit. Some areas have been evacuated, with aid slowly trickling in. At least two people have died, while three others are still missing and presumed drowned. SABC News’ Tumelo Machogo has the details.
