Sky News host Chris Kenny says Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen was “hyping up” the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO’s annual State of the Climate report.
The report revealed Australia has warmed 1.4 degrees since 1910 when it says records began however Mr Kenny said the 1890s and early 1900s were “extremely dry and hot”.
“The data starts just after one of the hottest and driest decades and we lower the temperatures in the following decades before we compare them with current conditions,” he said.
“Don’t expect any of this context to dampen the alarmism and catastrophism that we see in political and media circles.”
