Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson as “the beginning of the end of the war”.
The city is now resuming life under Ukrainian control, which is still being plagued by critical infrastructure shortages of power and water.
During a visit to the recaptured city, Mr Zelensky vowed to continue his quest to recapture the remaining areas occupied by Russia.
Up to 70 per cent of the Kherson region is still controlled by Russian forces, and the danger posed by mines left behind by retreating forces remains significant.
