New policy for gas companies is a ‘concern for the industry’

APPEA Chief Executive Samantha McCulloch says the new intervention that Treasurer Jim Chalmers wants to bring into the gas companies is a “concern for the industry”.

“As we have been saying for many years now, the key to bringing down current high prices is really investing in new supply,” she told Sky News Australia.

“And to do that we need the policy certainty to encourage that new investment.

“What the budget delivered last night was increased regulation, increased intervention and that potentially acting as a dampener.”
