No new taxes to meet Australia's commitments under methane pledge

No new taxes will be imposed to meet Australia’s commitments under the Global Methane Pledge.

Australia has formally joined more than 120 countries to sign the pledge – which aims to achieve a 30 per cent reduction in methane emissions by 2030.

Livestock – especially cattle – is the largest source of greenhouse gas in the agriculture sector, contributing around 10 per cent of Australia’s total emissions.
