Residents of Simile in Sabie, Mpumalanga are living in fear following clashes with illegal miners and foreign nationals in their area.
Earlier this week, the locals went on the rampage, destroying shacks and operation sites of the illegal miners. But the destroyed shacks have already been rebuilt and illegal mining operations have resumed. The residents claim the presence of illegal miners, who are mostly foreign nationals, has fuelled crime in the area.
