
There is a looming legal tussle between suspended Public Protector advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane and the Parliamentary impeachment inquiry probing her fitness to hold office over whether President Cyril Ramaphosa must come and testify at the impeachment inquiry.
This has emerged this week as the two sides showed differing views on the matter. The inquiry has ruled that while there is no legal impediment in calling the President, witnesses must testify on relevant information to its work to test the veracity of misconduct and incompetence allegations against Mkhwebane. However, Mkhwebane’s legal team is set to legally challenge that inquiry’s decision.
