Period poverty affects up to 7 million South African girls. Not being able to afford sanitary products, an estimated 30% of South African school girls are unable to attend class while menstruating. This widens the education gap, increasing the likelihood of being unable to overcome intergenerational poverty in the future. 16-year-old humanitarian, Simran Sahib is using Women’s Month to address this pervasive issue and change this daunting narrative for SA’s girl child.
