Assistant Climate Change and Energy Minister Jenny McAllister says “stabilising” Australia’s relationship with China is in the interest of both countries but will be “challenging”.
“No one should be naive about some of the areas where we actually disagree but our intention is to continue to assert our interest, to cooperate where we can and to disagree where we must,” Ms McAllister told Sky News Australia.
“No one is suggesting that’s straight forward but what is required is a really clear understanding of our national interest.”
