Sparkling Water has won the 2022 Hollywoodbets Durban July, Africa’s greatest horseracing event in spectacular fashion.
The filly with Jockey S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, trained by Michael de Kock, finished well ahead of Jet Dog in second and Safe Passage in third place.
The event at the Greyville racecourse, in its 126th year, welcomed back punters and fashionistas for the first time in two years since the Covid19 pandemic stopped all gatherings.
The iconic race is a huge drawcard for attracting visitors to the province.
