Nine years ago he became the first black Artistic Director to take over the most prestigious creative side of the Market Theatre Foundation.
One of the many challenges he has faced in the tenure was COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown that brought an end to live events.
It seems after serving that storm award-winning actor and director James Ngcobo is ready for a new challenge.
Ngcobo is joining the Joburg Theatres as the newly appointed artistic director.
