The City of Cape Town says it has added about 550 new beds to shelters that accomodate the homeles across Cape Town, for this winter. It’s estimated that there are more than 14 000 people that live on the streets of the city and surroundings. Authorities have recorded up to 128 millimetres of rainfall in many parts in a short time, persistent rainfall this week resulted in localised flooding, defective traffic lights, electricity outages and widespread damage.
