A preliminary report by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane involving a suspicious text message about the Constitutional Court now reveals more.
Last month Mkhwebane sought to persuade the Western Cape High Court to halt parliament proceeding with an inquiry into her fitness to hold office – pending the outcome of her rescission application in the Constitutional Court where she wanted to test the inquiry’s rules. In a text message to advocate Breitenbach of the DA, Ismail Abramjee said he had it on very good authority that the ConCourt has declined to hear the Public Protector’s rescission application. Mkhwebane revealed yesterday that this was not the only text message that Abramjee sent Breitenbach. And she says there were 18 calls seemingly between Abramjee and Justice Jody Kollapan.
And she says speaking to News24 Abramjee denied there was anything untoward about the calls. To discuss we’re joined by News24 Legal Journalist, Karyn Maughan.
