The police in the Eastern Cape have started implementing Operation Sikhona as part of efforts to tackle crimes against women and children. This initiative of the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Nomthetheli Mene, has been making inroads, with more than two hundred cases going to court.
GBV hotspots include the OR Tambo District Municipality and two metros, Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City.
