The United Nations Security Council has been called on to strengthen the fight against impunity and to pressure states to investigate fully, promptly and independently all attacks on journalists in line with international standards. That was the message delivered by the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Opinion during an informal meeting of the Council focussed on the protection of journalists.
