
Cameroon has celebrated the nation’s 50th anniversary of Unity in over two years. The last parade was held in 2019. In a rare public appearance, 89-year-old Head of state Paul Biya presided over the civil and military parade. This amid persistent rumours that the President is unwell. We were first joined by MacDonald Ayang, Politics Reporter for State owned Cameroon Insider Newspaper, and thereafter by Yaah Maggie Kilo, a diplomat who hails from former British Southern Cameroons and recently retired from the African Development Bank. She is also the Chairperson of the Southern Cameroons Alliance, an organisation setup to work towards bringing justice and accountability for victims the conflict in the Cameroons.
