Child Labour Conference | Children continue to work in Mbizana to earn some money

While the Fifth Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour is under way in Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, the practice is in full swing in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape, just 200 kilometres down the road. Children as young as 10-years-old continue working to earn some money to stave off the spectre of poverty in their families. SABC News Reporter Nkululeko Nyembezi visited Hlolweni village, where young boys and girls are digging up sand from the river to sell six-ton loads to sand traders for as little as R50.
