African ministers of finance meeting in Dakar have concluded discussions with a call to the continent’s development partners to agree to renegotiate terms of the current multilateral system. The ministers say Africa’s growth is in jeopardy as it suffers from shocks to the global economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and now the Russian war with Ukraine. SABC Coletta Wanjohi spoke to Vera Songwe, the UN Executive Secretary for the Economic Commission for Africa, who summarised the meeting outcomes.
