South Africa has made great strides in promoting women’s participation in the economy. But there are still gaps that need to be addressed. The South Africa Gender Assessment Report, released by the World Bank and the Women, Youth and People with Disabilities ministry shows critical gaps around low levels of labour force participation and wage gaps. The report also highlights barriers to women’s control of land and other productive assets.
