Residents of Boitekong in Rustenburg live in fear due to the high level of crime in the area.
But even worse is that residents struggle to get help from the local police station because of its location. Residents say they have to travel a long distance to reach a police station. They say reaching the police station is a risk on its own as it’s situated in a secluded area. They say their pleas for the police station to be relocated have fallen on deaf ears. Boitekong is among the areas infested with gangs and features among the biggest crime hot spots, according to crime statistics.
