DRC Conflict I East African leaders agree on a dialogue for military intervention

East African leaders have issued a warning to armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The bloc has urged armed groups to choose dialogue or be considered enemies of all. At the gathering in Nairobi – Kenya, leaders from Uganda, DRC, Burundi and Rwanda have agreed on a dialogue between armed groups and the government of DRC. They say failure to do so by rebels will result in the regional force deployment to root them out of the region. This decision was issued in a joint communique after the leaders met under what is known as the Heads of State Conclave on the DRC. It’s the first concerted effort by members of the East African Community to have armed groups in eastern DRC end the violence.
