South Africans should brace themselves for continued power cuts until Friday morning. The power utility says it’s had to extended Stage 2 rolling blackouts until 5am on Friday following the failure of additional units and continued shortage of generation capacity.
It says the extension of the rolling blackouts is required to preserve the remaining emergency generation reserves in an attempt to limit the stage of loadshedding.
It says, however, any further deterioration in generation capacity may require further loadshedding.
The power utility says it will spare Ethekwini from the power cuts as it deals with the devastating floods.
