The United States and western partners are seeking to verify reports from a far-right unit of Ukraine’s National Guard claiming that chemicals of an unknown origin were dropped by an unmanned drone on civilians in the besieged city. The United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary warned earlier that the use of such weapons would be a callous escalation in this conflict, and that they would hold Russian President, Vladimir Putin and his government, to account if the allegations are confirmed.
