Villagers using boats to cross Mzimvubu river

The Mzimvubu river has a deadly reputation for the people of Ntlangano village in Ntabankulu in the Eastern Cape.
Since the beginning of last year, nearly 40 people have drowned while trying to cross it.
Just last week, four bodies were recovered from the riverbank. Entrepreneurs have stepped in and are using old boats to ferry desperate villagers across the water mass.
