
Six people have now been arrested for incitement and public violence in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg. Earlier this week, clashes erupted between supporters of the Dudula Movement and foreign national shop-owners. The movement wants foreign nationals deported and their businesses taken over by South Africans. Operation Dudula has been waging a similar campaign around Johannesburg. The two groups have been accused of being a law unto themselves, inciting xenophobia and violence. They seem to be gaining traction, amid deepening poverty and unemployment.
