United Nations General Assembly condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The United Nations General Assembly’s Emergency Special Session has just voted to condemn Russia’s so-called "military operation" in Ukraine by an overwhelming majority, demanding Russia’s immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Ukraine’s territory while reaffirming that country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The resolution received 141 votes in favour, drawing 35 abstentions including from South Africa with just four countries joining Russia in voting "no". The resolution also urges the immediate peaceful resolution of the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine through political dialogue, negotiations, mediation and other peaceful means.
