As the battle for gas and oil exploration on the continent rages local activists in Uganda have criticised French oil and gas company TotalEnergies for its planned East African crude oil pipeline project.
The project aims to export oil from Uganda to Tanzania. Activists say the pipeline, which spans more than 1443 kilometres, will displace communities along the route and have a severe impact on climate and wildlife.
