Acting HOD of the Free State Department of Health, Godfrey Mahlatsi has been released on R5000 bail.
Mahlatsi appeared briefly at the Bloemfontein magistrates court on charges of contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
The case relates to defrauding the department of more than R8 million where payments were made to companies that allegedly submitted false and forged invoices for services that were never rendered between January 2011 to December 2015.
